EDIT: PixelatedHarmony has already removed her own membership, unbeknownst to me. Whoops. This thread will remain open to determine her standing going forward (i.e. her eligibility to reapply), and to document the Commune's stance(s) on the situation. Some of the language in this post will be inapplicable, naturally.

EDIT: For the record, this user has changed her Wikidot handle to do_the_right_thing.

So, it's been a rough couple of days. Anyone who's not familiar with the overall situation can apprise themselves of it here, but the ins and outs aren't strictly pertinent here.

Within the past few hours, it's become public knowledge that PixelatedHarmony does not match any existing user name — a current former Commune member — has sent threatening, harassing, and/or suicide-baiting messages to several SCP Wiki users in response to posts they made in that thread. Additionally, she has doxxed at least one user.

I feel that allowing PixelatedHarmony to remain a member of the Commune would tacitly endorse this behavior, which I consider unacceptable; additionally, I worry that her continued site membership could eventually expose other Commune members to this same sort of mistreatment. Therefore, I motion that PixelatedHarmony's membership in the Commune be permanently revoked.

Procedural matters:

Normally I would ask that everyone provide their thoughts publicly, but given Harmony's pattern of lashing out at people who publicly oppose her wishes, I am going to offer an alternative. Any member may message me via Wikidot, Discord, etc. to express their feelings about this matter, which I will tally in this thread. Additionally, if you want to provide anonymous commentary, I can post it in this thread on your behalf.

You may also post in this thread yourself, if you wish.

Given how serious and stressful this situation is, I'd also like to wrap it up quickly. I will be sending a newsletter to all site members informing them of this thread's existence; whatever stands as the consensus 36 hours from that message¹ will count as the final decision. If there's significant disagreement, we can extend the conversation.

PixelatedHarmony may post here in her defense, but her 'vote' will not be counted when making the final decision. (N/A, see above)

agreeing with permanent revoke; i concur with all of your thoughts. i understood her request for deletion initially when i thought she was acting in good faith, but i've seen firsthand the things she's been saying to people and it's completely unacceptable, completely unjustifiable and deeply hurtful. i hate to see things go down this way, but it's clear she's lashing out and trying to harm herself/others with her actions, and i don't want anyone else getting hurt.

as an aside; this sucks. it's a painful situation all around. i hope everyone's caring for themselves.

I don't think I ruffle any feathers by saying the Commune is an alternative to the main site. I believe the goal is to be somewhere between "haven for exiles" and "friendly rival to the mainsite", and regardless of your personal thoughts I think we can all agree that we don't want our relationship with the mainsite to be one of hatred. I think keeping Pix as a member seriously affects that possibility.

I think complacency could easily lead to an association between her current actions and the Commune. To be frank, many of our organizers are banned from the mainsite, and despite my personal opinions on the validity of the bannable offenses, that means in some ways we're fighting an uphill battle in terms of public opinion. I worry about what could occur if we don't make it clear we're cutting ties with Pix, and as such vote in favor of a confirmatory ban.

I'd like to finish this by saying that I have long admired Pix as both an author and a human. I haven't had a ton of contact with her, but from what talks we have had and friends who are closer to her, I know she's a good person. Given what I know about them, and confirmed by people who know her much better, this is not a nefarious long-thought-out deed years in the making, this is anger and lashing out. As such, I do think that further down the line there may be a place for an appeal, though I am unsure if that would be something she would even be interested in.

Harmony is attempting to tear down anything and everything she can that is associated with the person she used to be, lashing out, harming people and endangering a decade-old community in the process, because she thinks it will give her the closure she needs. I sorely doubt that it will, and I fear for the safety of any creative space in which she's included. I used to know her as a very levelheaded, respectable person and author whom I held in high regard; should I see evidence that she has resumed acting in this way, and a corresponding apologetic attitude towards her recent actions, I would be open to a discussion of reinstating membership.

As such, I am advocating for a non-permanent revoke of membership, which should remain in place until further notice.

Ignoring the negative message that allowing Harmony back on the site would send, I don't foresee any reasonable defense or explanation to be given for suicide-baiting or doxxing fellow wiki users. That kind of manipulative behavior does not strike me as something I would ever consider to be acceptable by itself, much less tolerable from a member of this wiki.

Well, it's been 36 hours, and we've all agreed that Harmony is no longer permitted on the site. Opinion seems split on whether that is forever or whether she will be allowed an appeal at some future date; given how stressful this has been for everyone, though, I think using language that puts this matter to rest is prudent.

The official verdict of this thread is that Harmony is not a member of the SCP Commune, and is not eligible for future membership.

If in the future we really feel the need to change this ruling, we can, but I don't expect that to happen for a long time, if ever.

I did also receive a PM from an anonymous site member prior to the 36 hour mark that I just saw now; here's the quote they wanted to provide to the thread:

" I firmly believe that she has done all but the initial request with perfectly rational bad faith, and that she will never change her aggression toward the SCP community at large, possibly even after the request is fulfilled. "

This user supported permanent revocation of her membership.
