First Thread - Movie Suggestions!

Summary:

Hi, first thread in this category, anyways. I'm currently looking for movies to watch, I'm very bored and I have nothing to do besides writing and watching movies. I like to have idle play in the background. Anyways, nothing's off the table, and everything is fair game. Surprise me. Matter of fact, it doesn't even have to be a movie. Short film? Sure. TV Series? Bet. I just need suggestions. Music too, if you want.

Matter of fact, it doesn't even have to be a movie. Short film? Sure. TV Series? Bet.

I just need suggestions. Music too, if you want.

Honestly, I'm not really that much of a "music / film / show guy," but I can definitely recommend my favorite of each category:

1. Movie — Interstellar. My favorite movie of all time. From the music to the plot, it's a masterpiece. Definitely give it a watch if you haven't.

2. Show — Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood (make sure it has the "Brotherhood" bit in its title — there is also an older adaptation that's just called "Fullmetal Alchemist," without the "Brotherhood" bit, and it's much, much worse). My favorite show of all time. I know, I know, I'm a weeb trash, but it's really goddamned good. Even if its a little longer (5 seasons ~ 12 episodes each, every one of them ~ 22 minutes), it flies extremely quickly. Fantastic, fantastic stuff. i am definitely not biased here as someone whose writing was also influenced by it no not at all

It's actually kind of a neo noir show, but like, more optimistic.

David Lynch's Rabbits (2002) is a recurring favorite of mine. In a city deluged by rain, three rabbits live with a frightful mystery… another favorite is Tim Burton's Big Fish (2003)! I've always been a sucker for magical realism, and there's tons of that in this delayed coming-of-age process.

It's been one and a half years guys… time to kick that dead horse!

Since I don't want to simply want to recommend good adaptions of ever better books, I'll go with Buster's Mal Heart and Le Monde est à toi for movies. The former has great (fever)dream like quality to the plot, whereas the latter is an emotional rollercoaster that actually feels natural instead of forced for the sake of box office profits.

For series, I have fond memories of The Adventures of the Galaxy Rangers. I remember watching the episodes out of order as a child, and through some weird twist of fate, it ended up influencing me more than the usual suspects. Also, cowboys in space fighting an evil sorceress, produced by a company called "Gaylord Entertainment".
