Welcome

Welcome to the SCP Commune!

Now that you're here, there are a few things you'll want to do:

  1. Go to the Members page and write something about yourself.
  2. Choose an author tag which will go on all of the pages you create. It can be your username or some derivative thereof. Add it to your bio on the Members page, then go to the Tags page and add it to the list there.
  3. Have a look around and see if there's any changes you would suggest. This site is really new, so a lot of things are rough around the edges.
  4. You should have gotten an invite to the members-only Discord when you were accepted. If you didn't, you can message one of the admins to get one. Currently, those are Communism will winCommunism will win and etoisleetoisle.

Importantly, there's no time constraint on doing these things. If it takes you a while to get around to them, that's not a problem.

Writing for the Commune

If you're posting a new page, here's how to do it:

  1. If you're writing an SCP, go to the Resources page and copy the standard article template. Or don't, it's up to you. Ignore this step if it's not an SCP.
  2. Once you have everything ready, create the page and upload your files and such.
  3. Tag it with your author tag, and any other tags that fit.
  4. Go to the front page and add a link to your article. If none of the categories on that list seem right, make a new one.
  5. Share it with your friends, family, etc.

Things to keep in mind

Lastly, here are some things that are worth remembering:

  • You can post almost anything. No type of content is disallowed a priori, except things that are clearly illegal or obviously violate Wikidot's TOS. Don't hesitate to experiment!
  • You're a full partner in the site's operation — the 'commune' moniker isn't just for show. Taking initiative to improve the site is encouraged, but you should endeavor to consult others during the planning stages, and always let people know if you've done anything significant.
  • We're all trying to have a good time here. If participating is stressful or upsetting, that means something is wrong, and you're well within your rights to bring it up. Don't worry about being a buzzkill — your enjoyment is as important as anyone else's.

With all that out of the way, have fun!
